14 October 1996; the content of this page is being preserved as-is for posterity. The only changes made since that time were (a) to update the page markup to current standards, (b) to update internal links as hosting platforms changed or to point to
archive.org when available, and (c) to obscure email addresses located throughout these pages (except for USENET postings).
Needless to say, many of the links to external sites are no longer functional after 20+ years.Path: visi.com!winternet.com!not-for-mail

"Business Coup Disrupts Local Internet Provider"
page 1, Metro. St. Paul Pioneer Press June 8, 1996
I'm not going to post the whole thing because it dosn't really reveal
anything new for us. It mentions Mike being locked out, and some
commentaries from a couple of users. Mentions Mike being a great admin,
plus rumors of "financial disarray".

To get the body of the story you have to subscribe to
PioneerPlanet, here's the teaser paragraph:
Business coup disrupts local internet provider
Winternet's founder locked out of office, to seek legal advice
An apparent business coup at a local internet service may have
disrupted service to subscribers of one of the Twin Cities'
largest online providers. Winternet customers were reporting
outages Friday and Saturday, after company founder Mike Horwath
claimed he'd been ousted from the company.
Cheers,
Mark
