I have created Winternet, and made it what it is by working very
hard over the last 4 years.

The people who forcibly took control of the Winternet machines and
offices are investers who have had nothing to do with the day to day
operations of Winternet for the majority of the last two years.

The locks on the Winternet office doors have been changed and neither
I, nor any of my employees, have been given keys. They have
instructed the building security to deny us access to the offices.

They have locked me out of my account and have removed any power I, or
my staff, had to do system administration.

With the help of many customers, I have been monitoring the system. I
have been keeping detailed logs of all of the problems that have
occured since the afternoon on Friday, July 5th, 1996.

I have been consulting with my attorney and am working hard to correct
the current situation.

I am dedicated to returning to you the Winternet that you know with
all its good points, and bad.

I, and my excellent staff, have enjoyed working with Winternet and its
customers, and we hope to be at the helm again soon.

Thank you for your support and continued confidence in myself, and my
staff.

Could any of these problems at Winternet be connected with lack of
email from other local ISPs such as ISD.NET?

It's possible, Earl. Mike was handling quite a bit of mail and news
routing, as far as I know. I do know that my favorite news groups
(misc.invest.stocks, rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy) have
stopped receiving new articles since the geniuses who ousted Mike
cold-booted all the Winternet hardware.

Nope. I was able to talk with Mike personaly and his
announcement pretty much sums it up. As much as I wish it were, this is
no joke. I'll be hanging around just long enough to see the outcome of
this mess. If things are not restored to normal, I'll be jumping ship.
Anyone know of any other decent ISP's?

Quite frankly, if you (Mike) and crew are gone, I won't be renewing
my account with Winternet. I just returned from a 1 week vacation late
yesterday and was unable to sign on for 2 hours and when I did, couldn't
receive my EMAIL nor any News Groups. It took until this morning. I can't
and won't try to detail my reasons for leaving, there are just too many of them.

This is my plan also...

I found one place, BackPack Software Inc. that offers something similar to
Winternet.

Check it out at http://www.bpsi.net/services.html

This is only a last resort for me. I'd much rather see Mike at the helm at
Winternet than be forced to move to another service provider.
