Warning! Please note that the content below was last updated on 14 October 1996; the content of this page is being preserved as-is for posterity. The only changes made since that time were (a) to update the page markup to current standards, (b) to update internal links as hosting platforms changed or to point to archive.org when available, and (c) to obscure email addresses located throughout these pages (except for USENET postings). Needless to say, many of the links to external sites are no longer functional after 20+ years.
Welcome to Winternet!

[ Information / Directory / Files / Providers / Servers / CMI ]

Dear Winternet Customers.

On Friday, July 5, 1996, Mike Horwath was removed from day to day operations by the board of directors. He remains an owner and retains his position on the board of directors. The Winernet employees were given the opportunity to continue their employment with us, but elected to leave with Mr. Horwath.

As with any change over, there were some initial difficulties. Our System Administrators worked around the clock to resolve the problems and we are now back to normal operations.

At Winternet, we are committed to the Customer first. We are constantly working to insure the security and stability of our service to you. We want to thank you for your patience and cooperation during this transition period. If you have any comments for improvements, please feel free to email us at suggest@winternet.com.

Again, thank you for your patience and perseverance.

[ The Blue Ribbon Campaign ]

Winternet is an advocate of free speech in its many forms and voices.

A blue ribbon is chosen as the symbol for the preservation of basic civil rights in the electronic world.

EFF asks that a blue ribbon be worn or displayed to show support for the essential human right of free speech. This fundamental building block of free society, affirmed by the U.S. Bill of Rights in 1791, and by the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, has been sacrificed in the 1996 Telecom Bill.

The blue ribbon will be a way to raise awareness of these issues, and for the quiet voice of reason to be heard.
